Dubai Offshore Sailing Club (DOSC), Offshore Series 2016/2017 – Second Place
The Offshore Series is one of the most popular events in the race calendar. Four races are held each year, with each race holding its own kudos and significant sponsor. The overall winning team of this blue-ribbon event is acknowledged as being one of the best teams in the club.
Courses
Courses are planned based on the wind and weather predictions, and can range from 65 nautical miles (nm) up to 160nm, with skippers and crews facing some of the most challenging conditions in the area.
In the 2016-2017 Offshore Series, Swordfish Racing Team came second overall, beaten only by the Club Commodore and his very experienced crew.
End of Season May Ball
The end of season May Ball was held on Thursday 18th May, where the Swordfish Skipper, Paul Carne, was presented with the crystal decanter. Paul said, “We have seen some challenging conditions this year, and have been racing against some amazing teams. To come second is a testament to the dedication and support of the crew and our sponsors.”
Inspired by the results, Paul is developing an intense training programme for the crew, and hopes to be back on the podium next season.
